When Bitcoin Cash forked from Bitcoin (Aug 1, 2017), every BTC UTXO was duplicated on the BCH chain.

👉 If you controlled 1 BTC, you automatically had 1 BCH
👉 But you must prove you control the private keys to claim that BCH

That proof is called Proof of claim
